Course Aims:
To give an overview of Pulmonary Fibrosis and the role clinicians play in supporting individuals - from diagnosis to palliative and end of life. Come and join us for this in-depth exploration of this progressive life-limiting illness. From current management to what is new, prioritising the needs of the individual and helping them to stay in control and to have the best quality of life possible from diagnosis until they die
Objectives:

To provide an overview of Pulmonary Fibrosis including its pathophysiology and diagnosis pathways

To equip participants with clinical knowledge and skills required to support patients living with Pulmonary Fibrosis

To explain the needs and challenges of managing oxygen for PF patients
-
To describe the role and benefits of humidified high flow systems (myAirvo)
-
To learn about the work of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis in terms of the research, clinical trials and support they offer patients and carers

To explore the palliative, physical, psychological, and social effects of living with Pulmonary Fibrosis for patients and those living alongside
-
To foster a multidisciplinary approach when supporting people living with Pulmonary Fibrosis

To encourage reflective practice and patient-centred care using case studies provided by our speakers

Manisha has worked as a specialist physiotherapist at The Hospice of St Francis for 9 years and previously has worked in community and acute healthcare settings in London and Hertfordshire.
Manisha has recently completed her level 4 Certificate in Teaching and Education, and is committed to providing a specialist palliative education programme for Allied Health Professionals and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis
Kirstie is the Research Officer at Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF), focusing on research communications and participation in research. Her background is predominately in public health and she now specialises in supporting researchers and industry to raise awareness of different research activities, from taking part all the way through to sharing the latest research news and updates. Kirstie developed the APF Study Finder in collaboration with those with lived experience of pulmonary fibrosis. This is an online tool where people can find accessible and easy to understand information about different research taking place in the UK. Kirstie is currently also overseeing the APF direct funding of research, which supports researchers through a variety of grants.
