Who should attend:
All experienced Health and Social Care Professionals, Band 6 and above, who have difficult conversations as part of their everyday role.
Foundation level communication skills is recommended. Delegates MUST have completed intermediate level communication skills training.
If you do not qualify please email education@stfrancis.org.uk for a place on a free of charge communication skills course prior to your preferred course date. We recommend a 3-to-6 month space following these preliminary courses prior to joining the advanced course. This is to allow consolidation of learning and to maximise your learning from the advanced course.

Course Content:
This 2 day virtual course will provide delegates with key communication strategies for managing difficult conversations they experience in their role.
Delivered virtually via Zoom.
Small groups (maximum 6/10) delegates practice scenarios with professional actors playing different roles such as the patient or family member. These scenarios may include:
- Handling strong emotions
- Difficult conversations with patients and families
- Giving significant news to the patient and or family member
- Introducing sensitive topics such as DNACPR conversations
Each role play is filmed with delegates providing constructive feedback allowing students to develop their skills in a safe environment.
It is essential delegates attend both days
