Respite for Good

Our respite care supports people who rely on family for help with everyday tasks and need a break away from home.

It can be perfect for someone who is recovering from a recent operation and will be in a period of recuperation.

Guests are expected to be well and their condition stable. Personal health care needs cannot be such that require medical/nursing input on site, e.g Nurse led diabetes management, oxygen.

Guests should have capacity to make decisions and awareness of time and place, and be able to mobilise independently with or without aids or with the assistance of one person. They will be able to self-medicate or accept medication via a healthcare assistant.  

A stay in our respite rooms is charged at £1,800 per week.

Four onsite rooms will be available for booking periods of up to two weeks. These modern rooms combine comfort and safety with an adjustable bed, en-suite bathroom, call system, Wi-Fi/smart TV and nutritious home-cooked meals to create a relaxing environment. Further thoughtful touches like soft furnishings, views over the beautiful gardens and natural light ensure a sense of peace and calm. 

Guests stay in one of four respite rooms on our Inpatient Unit at The Hospice of St Francis.

Profits from Respite for Good will help to fund hospice care.

To fund hospice care for more than 2,000 patients and families every year and keep pace with the increase in referrals every year, we need to raise at least £6 million every year. We receive just over £1m from the NHS. Being able to give regularly to charity is much harder for many people now. Donations alone cannot fund the Hospice care we need.

Respite for Good reflects a growing need for flexible care options. By offering respite care in four dedicated rooms, The Hospice of St Francis can generate additional income to help fund its core mission – sustaining and strengthening free hospice care. This innovative approach will help secure the future of compassionate care in our community.
