Chapter Two opened its doors in 2020 (June 29th)

The bookshop has sustainability at its heart, giving new life to once-cherished books and reusing materials inside the shop from donated bookcases and shelving to recycled materials on the counter and reading tables and chairs. Visitors are encouraged to pop in and browse whilst enjoying a coffee. They can also take inspiration from the curated gift collection of stationery, cards, vinyl records and bespoke items created by the Hospice’s Creates & Makes volunteer team.

The shop was nominated for ‘Best Bookshop’ in the Muddy Stiletto Bucks & Oxon Awards 2023.  It was announced they had won on Tuesday 13th June!

Sarah, Director of Sustainable Trading at the Hospice comments,

“We are all so proud of Chapter Two our community bookshop in Chesham for winning this award.  It is run by a fantastic team of staff and volunteers and this award is testament to their passion, expertise, commitment and energy in making Chapter Two the success it is today.  Books and community engagement sit at the heart of all they do;  From Saturday Story Time to Chess Club; Diversity Book Club to craft workshops and author signings, Mark and the team host a wide range of community based activities and events.  What is more, all the profits from Chapter Two go to support the free care provided by The Hospice of St Francis in South Bucks so Chapter Two’s success provides invaluable funding to continue our work.”

Mark, Bookshop Manager quotes, “We are proud that so many of our customers have voted for Chapter Two in these awards. Chesham is a vibrant community and we’re proud to be part of: it’s both diverse and cohesive. Working here is a heart warming experience through seeing  so much kindness in action. Our customers come forward day after day to buy and donate books, and by doing so share and celebrate the pleasures of reading and in turn support The Hospice of St Francis.”
