After reading how a visit from a horse affected one of our patients, Nigel from Fuzzy’s Farm got in touch to offer a visit from his two friendly alpacas.
Nigel brought Amber and Willow to the Hospice’s Inpatient Unit so that they could visit with some of our patients and their families.
Staff, patients and their loved ones came outside to see the two gentle creatures, stroking their necks and posing for photos with them. Willow, just one year old (and still too young to wear a halter), was carried by Nigel to visit a patient whose bed had been wheeled into the Hospice garden.
Nigel led Amber around to patients’ rooms, providing a unique and memorable afternoon for everyone. The animals elicited everything from laughter to coos of admiration.
Nigel said, “It was our first visit to this wonderful caring and peaceful place. Thank you all for such a warm welcome. I have had a truly blessed life and feel it is important to do things for others as a way of saying thank you.”
