Lisa - Volunteering Manager

For Lisa, volunteering comes as second nature, having grown up in a family that encouraged service in the local community since her teenage years. Lisa’s professional journey spans over a decade in the charity sector working for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and volunteering for PANDAS (a charity tackling postnatal depression) among others. Lisa has served as Head of Voluntary Services at the Hospice for over a year.

Lisa’s “small but mighty team” supports an incredible 1,200 volunteers throughout the community. Her team oversees everything from recruitment and training to engagement and recognition, ensuring volunteers feel valued and supported throughout their journey.

At the Hospice, Lisa believes in the sense of connection and purpose. Volunteers see the daily impact of their efforts – whether they’re raising funds in a shop or comforting a patient – and that makes all the difference. “They’re not just a little cog in a big machine. They can see the tangible difference they’re making.”

For Lisa, volunteering is essentially about creating a symbiotic relationship where career development, wellbeing and friendships all converge. Lisa believes volunteering enriches lives in countless ways and emphasised, “Whatever your reason for volunteering, the Hospice can meet those motivations.”
