Social Media Volunteer (Berkhamsted Owned)

Hours: Flexible, short periods several times a week during shop opening hours
To support the Hospice of St Francis shops by creating engaging and creative social media content for individual shop social media pages. Content should promote the shop, showcase donated stock, highlight shop staff and volunteers, and encourages community engagement and support
Tasks are as agreed with the Berkhamsted Owned Manager, but will include any of the following:

To create interesting posts about the shop, our stock and our volunteers

Create and share engaging social media content about the shop, its stock, volunteers, and activities

Take photos and videos of shop displays, products, and events (in line with hospice guidelines)

Produce short-form video content (e.g. reels)

Write clear, engaging captions and use appropriate hashtags to increase reach and engagement

Work with the shop team and communications team to identify content opportunities and ideas

Help promote campaigns, events, and seasonal activity in the shop

Ensure all content reflects Hospice values and safeguarding/confidentiality requirements

Monitor and respond to comments on pages, escalating to Shop Manager to respond if necessary

Increase the reach and visibility of the shop’s social media channels by identifying and engaging with relevant local pages, community groups, and partner organisations. This includes liking, following, and interacting with their content, as well as sharing appropriate shop posts across community platforms to help grow awareness and engagement.
We're looking people who are:

Confident user of Instagram and Facebook

Experience (or willingness to learn) using content creation apps such as Canva and InShot

Ability to create short-form video content, including basic interviewing for reels

Understanding of hashtags and basic social media engagement strategies

Creative approach with good attention to detail

Able to work independently and as part of a team

- All volunteers agree to work within Hospice policies and procedures, within the Hospice Philosophy and to respect the Hospice policy on confidentiality around patient, internal Hospice, and commercial matters.

We welcome applications for this role from volunteers undertaking Duke of Edinburgh placements who are over 16 years old
