Posted Friday 9th October 2026

Apply by Monday 9th November 2026

Hours: 8 hours per week - working each Sunday
Contract: Part-time
Salary: £3,976.42 P.A. (FTE: £24,852.66)

Love furniture, enjoy being hands-on and want to make a real difference?

At The Hospice of St Francis, every sale has a purpose – and you could be part of something special!

Meet Returned to Glory, our award-winning flagship upcycling destination in Berkhamsted. Since opening in 2011, we’ve built a reputation for bringing furniture and homeware back to life, championing local makers and helping customers discover unique treasures for their homes. From beautiful furniture and lighting to fabrics, records and home accessories, we offer an inspiring retail experience where every purchase and donation helps support local people and their families through the Hospice.

We generate over £2 million in sales each year across our trading operations, and we’re looking for a practical, enthusiastic and reliable Sunday Porter to help keep Returned to Glory running smoothly.

What will you be doing?

No two Sundays will be quite the same! Working alongside our Shop Manager, Deputy Managers and fantastic team of volunteers, you’ll play an important hands-on role in the day-to-day running of our showroom.

You will:

  • Bring the showroom to life by safely moving furniture and stock, keeping displays looking their best and making sure items are clean, polished and ready to sell.
  • Make customers feel welcome by offering friendly, helpful service and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
  • Help turn donations into vital funds by supporting customers with their donations, showing appreciation and identifying Gift Aid opportunities.
  • Support sales and the till by processing purchases and Gift Aid accurately.
  • Get stuck into practical jobs including minor repairs, DIY tasks and keeping the studio tidy and organised.
  • Be part of the action by helping prepare for our exciting events, workshops and promotions.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to be an expert in upcycling – just someone who enjoys getting stuck in and takes pride in doing a great job!

Why join us?

Returned to Glory is more than a shop. It’s a place where creativity, sustainability and community come together. You’ll work with a welcoming team, help give pre-loved items a new lease of life and play a part in raising the funds that make our Hospice care possible.

Every item has a story. Every sale makes a difference. And every team member helps make it happen.

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, help customers discover something special and make your Sundays count, we’d love to hear from you!

Join Returned to Glory and help us turn pre-loved into something extraordinary.
