Head of Marketing & Communications

Apply by Sunday 15th November 2026

Hours: Full Time 37.5hpw
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Salary negotiable, depending on experience
The Hospice of St Francis is looking for an experienced and collaborative marketing and communications professional to lead the day-to-day delivery of our whole-Hospice marketing activity. This is an opportunity to use your expertise to help more people understand our services, strengthen engagement with our communities and supporters, and ensure our communications are clear, accessible and effective.
Working with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing, you will turn organisational priorities into coordinated plans, campaigns, content, and communications. You will manage a talented team comprising a Digital Marketing Lead, Marketing Executive, and Marketing Graduate, balancing competing demands and deploying resources where they will have the greatest impact.
Your responsibilities will include coordinating integrated campaigns; maintaining our brand and tone of voice; overseeing our website, digital channels and content plan; supporting media relations; and using audience insight, analytics and performance measures to improve results. You will also quality-assure sensitive communications and help colleagues across the Hospice develop clear, audience-focused briefs.
We are looking for someone with substantial experience of delivering integrated marketing and communications in a complex organisation, ideally within the charity, healthcare or a comparable sector. You will bring strong people and supplier management skills, excellent writing and editing ability, sound judgement, and experience across brand, digital, media, websites and internal communications. You will be comfortable using evidence to prioritise activity and able to remain calm and constructive when managing sensitive or reputational matters.
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, primarily Hospice-based, with hybrid working as agreed. Travel to Hospice sites, shops, events and external meetings will be required, together with occasional flexibility outside normal hours. The role reports to the Director of Fundraising & Marketing.
If you are an organised, practical, and audience-focused leader who can bring people and priorities together, we would be pleased to hear from you.
