Summer Hearts Afternoon
Sunday 16th August 2026
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
The Hospice of St Francis
Remember and celebrate the life of your loved one this summer
On Sunday 16th August The Hospice of St Francis warmly invites you, along with friends or family, to an afternoon of reflection and connection. You will be welcome to dedicate a handmade purple wooden heart to someone who holds a special place in your life – whether they are no longer with us or are a loved one you wish to celebrate. Many people find that writing a message and taking a moment outdoors can bring comfort, gratitude or a sense of closeness.
The event will take place in our beautiful Hospice gardens, with cake, scones and sausage rolls available to purchase. Complimentary drinks will be provided, along with live music. Hospice members of staff and bereavement support volunteers will also be present through the afternoon. You are welcome to join us anytime between 2 – 4pm.
Whether you come with friends and family, or prefer some time alone, everyone will be warmly welcomed.
You will be able to place your heart in a collective display and then take it home.
If you are unable to attend the event there are options to collect a wooden heart from our reception (to decorate at home) or make a donation without collecting a heart.
Please RSVP before 16th July as we have a limited number of hearts available.
