Summer Hearts Afternoon

As you arrive at the Hospice you will be welcomed and shown to the part of the garden where the Summer Hearts Afternoon is taking place.

There will be live music and refreshments available to enjoy and plenty of seating around the Hospice garden. You will be able to collect your blank purple wooden heart in the Spring Centre and then spend time decorating and placing your heart on a display.

There will be members of staff available to help you, including some of our bereavement service team. Take your time to reflect and enjoy the gardens and music. You are welcome to arrive anytime from 2pm and the event will conclude at 4pm - you are able to spend as long as you wish during that time. 

Your heart will be available to collect as you arrive at the event on 16th August. You can take your time to decorate and then display on a collective display. You can either take your heart at the end of the event on 16th August, or come along to the Hospice Spring centre reception to collect Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm, between Monday 17th and Friday 28th August.

Please come to our Spring Centre reception at the Hospice from Monday 20th July until Friday 14th August, between 9am - 5pm on weekdays. Please show the reception team your confirmation email. You are then welcome to take the heart home to decorate and display.

Each RSVP ensures 1 heart. If you wish to dedicate multi hearts, please fill in a separate online form to allow us to keep track of each dedication.  
 
There may be additional hearts available on the day but this is not guaranteed if they have been reserved in advanced.

We are limited to the number of hearts we have to offer – an RSVP is essential for this event to enable us to cater accordingly. If you have missed the deadline of 16th July, please do email us on inmemory@stfrancis.org.uk to check on availability.

We will provide a white pen which you can use to decorate your heart. There will be additional embellishments available for children. If you want to add anything else please feel free to bring along.

You can use the opportunity to write (or draw) any message on the heart you would like – for example a name, message or date. You can keep it as simple or be as creative as you like.

No, this is in addition as a chance to enjoy our gardens in the summer. Our Light up a Life event will still be happening on Sunday 29th November this year.

Apologies we cannot accommodate dogs at this event.

We hope the weather will be kind to us but if not we will use our internal space, so either way the event will still be going ahead.

You are still welcome to support our event through a donation, with the option to order a heart to collect from our Spring Centre Reception to decorate and keep at home, but we are not sending out wooden hearts in the post. Writing on the hearts will happen at the event on the 16th August.  

Our Light up a Life event will be happening later in the year and you will have the opportunity to dedicate and send in your star remotely as normal.
