So, Where Do You Come In?

In this role you will have regular contact with patients, their families and visitors, therefore a friendly, caring and approachable manner is essential, with the resilience to work in a Hospice setting.

You’ll play an important part in the day-to-day running of the kitchen You will be assisting the Catering Manager and/or Senior Cook in providing a nutritious, well-balanced diet for patients, staff and visitors to a high standard of preparation and within budgetary requirements while helping to maintain a smooth, organised, and welcoming kitchen environment.

The Opportunity

Some of the main tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene at all times in accordance with environmental health and Safer Food, Better Business for preparation of food, and the handling and storage of goods.
  • Assist in food preparation for example: vegetables, salads, sandwiches etc. as directed by Catering
    Manager or Senior Cook / Cook
  • Deliver meals to patients and relatives in our Inpatient Unit
  • Assist with the daily cleaning and regular deep cleaning of catering areas, equipment, and surfaces, as
    directed by Catering Manager or Senior Cook / Cooks in accordance with Hospice guidelines, and
    environmental health requirements
  • Report any faulty equipment to Catering Manager or Senior Cook
  • Demonstrate professional expertise and ensure all tasks are completed in line with best practice and
    Hospice policy

The Must Haves...

  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
  • Experience of working as kitchen assistant
    within a commercial kitchen environment
  • Cleaning of all catering equipment
  • Food preparation i.e. salad, sandwiches
  • Working as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work and
    within the team
  • Organise own workload think ahead, prioritise

Please note the successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check.
