Sharon explains why she’s made a dedication to her dad Brian on the Hospice’s Father’s Day page.
“Dad was cared for at the Hospice in May 2023. From the moment we arrived, we felt heard and seen. For the first time, we understood what was happening with his care and what to expect. That understanding allowed us to relax and breathe, knowing Dad was in the safest of hands.
The calm, peaceful environment and the love shown by every member of staff made an unbearably difficult time feel a little lighter. I was able to stay overnight with Dad and be by his side when he passed peacefully — something I will always cherish.
We had sadly lost our mum just 20 months earlier, and she too was cared for at the Hospice. Without the outstanding care of the Inpatient Unit team and the compassion of the Bereavement Support team, I truly don’t know how we would have coped.
I will never be able to thank the Hospice enough for everything they’ve done for my family. For Father’s Day, I’m making a donation and dedication in Dad’s name. I want the Hospice to be there for other families when they need it most.”
