We are an Outstanding Hospice. By the time we celebrated our 40^th Birthday we had cared for and supported 25,000 local people. At The Hospice of St Francis we believe hospice care is a human right, that is fundamental for a good life.

Demand for Hospice care is rising, operating costs are rising, and traditional income is falling in real terms. Post pandemic, 40% more people have come to The Hospice of St Francis for care. Right now, 25% of people in the UK can’t get Hospice care when they need it.

To ensure that our outstanding hospice care and culture of giving can thrive, we need to engage the support of our community, appeal to new donors and tell the story of our hospice in ways which inspire and convert.

You will produce excellent, creative written content that captivates and motivates hospice supporters, donors, customers, staff and volunteers. Using your skillset, you will support our communications output, both digital and physical: covering our events, shops, stories and ongoing campaigns.

Based in our Communications Team (Media & Digital Income), the postholder will work alongside colleagues to produce effective content delivered through the main hospice and shop channels to drive awareness for hospice services, whilst encouraging supporters to shop, donate, fundraise or register for events.

This team has an income generation responsibility and stories and content produced by this role will contribute to how that is achieved. 

• Good level of education overall; Academic qualifications including GCSEs and A-Levels to demonstrate excellent level of written communication, plus digital and design skills
• Experience of marketing, digital communications or fundraising with the ability to create strong digital content, plus writing and copy-editing skills
• An adept storyteller able to convey the value and purpose of the Hospice
• Comfortable working with different stakeholders and teams
• Ability to seamlessly manage multiple projects/appeals at the same time
• Demonstrable social media skills

• Annual salary of up to £28,800 (FTE) dependant on experience 
• 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), pro rata

• Your internal & external contacts will include all Employees, Volunteers, Supporters, Customers, Patients and Families, Trustees and Patrons, plus members of the general public and external organisations/suppliers.
• The post-holder will come into contact with emotional circumstances, through speaking to staff, volunteers and patients and/or information. The post holder will frequently be required to change from one activity to another to meet the changing needs of the service.
