On the 28th August 2010 our Mum, Sue Shrimpton, sadly lost her battle to cancer.
The cancer had spread to her lungs, liver and brain. The doctors tried radiotherapy in the hope of shrinking the tumor on the brain, but the treatment was unsuccessful. Through out her treatment Faye was assigned as Mum's Macmillan nurse. Faye was amazing throughout and was always available when we needed her.
In the last days of her illness Mum was admitted to the hospice for end of life care.
Mum comes from a large family and had a lot of friends so there were people coming and going all the time, but the staff were so friendly and welcoming and very accommodating.
We could not have asked for a more peaceful and tranquil place for our mum to spend her last few days.
We wanted to repay the staff for their kindness so every year since Mum passed away we hold a coffee morning/afternoon and invite our friends and family to join us in our garden for tea/coffee and cake. We also do a raffle and all the money we raise is donated to The Hospice of St Francis. In past years we have raised between £300 - £400, but this year we raised an amazing £555 so we would like to thank all of our friends and family for their continued support.
We may not be able to bring our Mum back, but we can help ensure that others get the same care and support that we did to help them through their difficult time.
