Helen's Story
The first Zumbathon, in aid of the Hospice, was organised by forty year old Helen from Tring who is receiving support at the Hospice's Spring Centre following a sudden diagnosis of bowel cancer in 2016.
Helen and her husband Guy have benefitted from emotional support and practical advice for planning ahead. Helen says, “I’m going to need maintenance chemo now for the rest of my life but as a family we get all we want here to help us cope with my illness and the Hospice has been great at helping me focus on the things that matter. Our children, Anna and William love coming to the family activities like craft sessions and Pony days run by the Children’s team. They know mummy’s ill and enjoy the familiarity of coming to lots of children’s events and meeting others in a similar boat so they’re aware it’s not just their mummy that’s special.”
