St Albans resident Ben Askem, who recently cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats in memory of his mum Stephanie who spent her last weeks at The Hospice of St Francis, said, “Quite how we would Ben Askem at the Finish Linehave coped without The Hospice of St Francis is a mystery.

Not only did mum receive exceptional care during her last weeks, but we did too. Thankfully, the Hospice team ensured that my mum was not in pain, and had, as much as it hurts me to say it, made her peace with the situation. The Hospice kept a close eye on all of us, calling us individually for many weeks afterwards.”

Steve Jamieson, CEO of The Hospice of St Francis, commented, “I am delighted that The Hospice of St Francis has been chosen to be the beneficiary charity of the St Albans Half Marathon next year.

Steve JamiesonAs the St Albans marathon celebrates its 35th year in 2016, our Hospice is also marking a similar milestone having provided hospice care for those living in West Hertfordshire for 36 years and I am aware that so many in the St Albans community have been touched by our care.

“I feel so proud to be associated with this major Hertfordshire event and I would personally like to thank everybody who took the time to vote for us.”
