WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

An introductory level workshop for patient-facing staff and volunteers who encounter patients experiencing sadness or depression

 

COURSE CONTENT

At the end of this introductory level workshop candidates will be able to:

  • Describe the key differences between sadness and depression
  • Describe how hope can be explored within the context of palliative care
  • Identify communication skills that can be utilised to support patients with sadness or depression (for example: empathy, active listening, touch)
  • Identify when to seek level 2+ support
  • Describe the impact of supporting people with sadness and depression: self-care and reflection
