Hospice Open Afternoon

The Hospice of St Francis Gardens

Sunday 22nd September

2pm - 5pm

The Hospice is holding a special open afternoon on Sunday 22nd September as part of our 40th birthday celebrations.

Live Music

The open afternoon will give visitors the opportunity to explore the stunning seven-acre gardens including the silver-gilt-winning Myeloma UK Garden - which was relocated from last year's Chelsea Flower Show - plus the woodland area and The Spring Centre, our health and wellbeing service for adults and children.

Parking for blue badge holders is available at the Hospice and a free shuttle service is running visitors from nearby Egerton Rothesay School.

Hospice address: Spring Garden Lane, Northchurch, Berkhamsted, HP4 3GW

Egerton Rothesay School: Durrants Lane, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, HP4 3UJ

All are welcome to attend and there are activities planned throughout the afternoon;

  • Garden tours
  • Live Music
  • Childrens’ woodland treasure hunt
  • Story time with a local author Pete Johnson
  • Model railway
  • Art Exhibition & Auction - View the Art Auction here
  • Tea and cake
  • Prosecco
  • Face painting
  • Fun children’s activities

Queens Award for Voluntary Service

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, will be awarded at approximately 4pm. It was announced in June that the Hospice was to receive the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK, one of just five recipients across Hertfordshire to be honoured.

Art Exhibition & Auction

As part of our 40th anniversary, forty local artists have kindly donated artwork to our Art Exhibition and Auction. All proceeds raised through the auction will help fortify us for the next 40 years, helping us to continue supporting local people to live their precious lives well. A huge thank you to all the artists who have donated work. Bids can be made online throughout September and also during the Open Afternoon.
