Our aim is to support the care of seriously ill and dying patients in their care setting. We have an energetic and skilled team of doctors who care for all patients in the Inpatient Unit and The Spring Centre.
Our Medical team also provides a robust outreach service, visiting patients in their own home, local hospitals and care homes.
Education is also a key part of our doctors' role and they contribute to many teaching sessions, both at the Hospice, in GP surgeries and by having placements of doctors working alongside our Medical team at the Hospice.
Our Medical team has the following areas of interest:
- holistic medicine including physical symptom control and emotional support
- one of our Medical team has a joint post supporting care of seriously ill patients in a local nursing home
- our Consultant in Palliative Medicine has a special interest in palliative care for those with advanced heart and lung disease and has set up several services to support this large group of patients
