Hospice Building Works

Hospice Building Works

Monday 8th July - Monday 2nd September 2019

We are carrying out essential maintenance works at The Hospice of St Francis from Monday 8th July until Monday 2nd September. This includes replacement of faulty hot water pipes plus some refurbishment of our Spring Centre to enhance our rehabilitation service. We will have builders on site seven days a week, including weekends, and the ground floor of the main Hospice building will be temporarily out use. We have carefully planned arrangements in place to ensure our care can continue whilst the building work takes place.

Whilst our main Reception will be open during the summer (via a different entrance at left side of the building) during usual office hours and staff will be working as usual, please call before you visit: 01442 869550. You can also email us at info@stfrancis.org.uk.

For Patients and Families

Please speak to your Hospice community nurse or clinical representative who can advise how we will continue to care for you during this period.

  • Whilst we will not be able to see you at the Hospice whilst builders are on site and apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, we will of course continue to visit you at home.
  • In addition, Everest House GP Surgery in Hemel Hempstead and Chess Medical Centre in Chesham have kindly made rooms available for us to use in July and August. If one of these locations works best for you we will arrange with you to see you there.
  • If you come to our Spring Centre or need to do so in July and August you can continue to benefit from these activities. This is because all of our Spring Centre activities are being relocated to Egerton Rothesay School in Berkhamsted, with the exception of our complementary therapies which are being relocated to Champneys in Tring.
  • A clinician will liaise with you if you need support in a Hospice bed during this period. Please be advised we are working closely with Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Peace Hospice Care so will be able to care for you safely at home or in the beds of the Peace Hospice (dependent on availability), supported by our Doctors and the wider Hospice team.
