Local rugby 7s team "The Seven Dwarves" have had a fantastic rugby season so far! Read Anthony Gillam's account of their matches below!
It was the 8th year we have attended the MKRuggerfest held at Milton Keynes rugby club. For the first time in our 18 year history we had 2 teams playing and we had 25 lads turn out plus lots to support which was brilliant. Our social side won all their group games, and then a quarter and semi final and fell at the final hurdle, but runners up was a brilliant result and they won £100 for the Hospice.
Our Elite team which has already won Hendon 7s at the end of April won all their games and took the title, winning £400 for the Hospice. A fabulous day all round! Our Elite team now qualify for national final in Nottingham at the end of the month where we will be trying to win some more money for the Hospice, and play for the title of RFUs 24/7 series National Champions!
On 29th June the team played at the national final and although they lost in the quarter finals, the team did brilliantly and they were in the final 8 in the country which is amazing.
Their biggest event of the summer will be the National Pubs 7s at Harpenden Rugby club on Sunday 25th August - good luck guys!
Thank you to the whole team for supporting the Hospice. Not only do they play rugby, but they wear our logo on their kit with pride and raise awareness of what the Hospice does, everywhere they go. We love what we do and we love your support too!
