The Mud Pack Challenge is Back!

15 August 2016
Registration has officially opened for The Hospice of St Francis’ Mud Pack III – and it just keeps getting better and better!

The adrenalin-fuelled five or 10-mile obstacle course will take place in the stunning grounds of Ashridge House on Sunday 23rd October.

Promising lots of muddy fun, Mudpackers will swing, jump, climb and wade their way through the 190-acre grounds and woodland of the historic country estate, negotiating wet and muddy obstacles along the way.

Mud Pack Obstacle

This year will feature fantastic new obstacles, including a giant super slide and a thrilling tunnel challenge, not to mention some freefalling together with old favourites like the ‘wall,’ the skips, the hay bales, tyre and log-zones.

Fran Martin, Events Manager at the Hospice said: “We are so excited about Mud Pack III.  With hundreds of participants last year and an incredible over £180k raised, local people showed us that they love the chance to take on a challenge which is a little out of the ordinary – but which delivers huge amounts of fun!

“This year, we have even more fun planned and more fantastic obstacles, but we’ll be springing a few surprises! What better way to spend an autumn day than by doing something completely different in a beautiful location and all for a fantastic cause. Register now to be sure you reserve your space for some muddy good fun!”

Places are already being snapped up by local teams and individuals keen to get to get filthy for the Berkhamsted-based Hospice, many with a personal story linked to the charity - among them a team of 12 teachers and staff from Tring School.

Sally Ambrose, Deputy Head Teacher at the school, said, “We are so looking forward to getting stuck in at Mud Pack III! We can’t wait to have some fun and take part in the challenge together as a team, all while supporting this wonderful local charity.”

Mum-of-three, Wendy Robertson, 48, who took part last year with two girlfriends as The Muddy Ladies, said, “We had such a fantastic time. We laughed so much that we were nearly the last to finish and even the following week, texting each other, we were still laughing at home!! What a great way to get a bit fitter, have a giggle and raise some money for a worthwhile cause too!”

The event is open to anyone with a basic level of fitness so it’s perfect for individuals aged 15 or over and also fantastic fun for families, friends, teams and work colleagues.  All that’s needed is a sense of adventure and a willingness to get muddy!

Places are limited and entries accepted on a first come, first served basis so don’t delay, get your pack together and secure your place today at www.stfrancis.org.uk/mudpack

The entry fee is £35 and participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £50 to help the Hospice raise the £4.8m it needs every year to fund its free care for people living with life-limiting illness – 80% of which it relies on from voluntary donations.
