Christmas is a time for families, fun and laughter. But, for some children, who’ve lost a funny grandpa, cuddly nan or their brilliant and irreplaceable mum to serious illness, it can be a time of sadness – especially when there is an empty seat at the Christmas dinner table.
Bereavement can take a huge toll on a child – they can feel sad, anxious, angry and lonely. Dealing with grief and coping with growing up can seriously affect a children’s relationships at home and at school.
That’s why our specialist children’s team is here throughout the year providing much-needed support for all children who need us during a serious illness, or following the death, of someone they really love. We tailor our activities to every child but have a whole array of support on offer from 1:1 sessions plus group sessions such as teen drop ins, arts & craft, family film mornings, holiday-time activities and stories at our Storyteller Chair. Our goal is to help children through their grief and be here to talk with them, whenever they need us.
