Our specialist physiotherapists are able to offer assessment and treatments. Sessions are aimed at building and maximising physical fitness, maintaining independence, reducing pain, improving energy levels, maximizing strength and flexibility, coordination and balance .
Our staff have additional training in acupuncture, TENS, “kinesio” taping, managing breathlessness. We can also give you a program for keeping active at home or in the community.
We also offer exercise classes at the Spring Centre.
Balance and Strength on a Tue morning at 10 -11
This group is for people who are walking with or without a walking stick, that feel that they would like to improve their balance and strength.
Adapted Tai Chi on a Wednesday 1:30 -2:30
This group is based on the principles of the Chinese martial art of Tai Chi and adaptations have been made for people with long term health conditions.Participants will be expected to carry out slow gentle movements in standing that promote health and wellbeing, breathing and balance. The exercise section of this group will last 30 minutes, with additional time to socialise and relax. The group is run by a practicing Tai Chi physiotherapist. Participants need to wear loose clothing and are encouraged to bring a bottle of water with them.
Wellbeing Group Fridays 10-12:30
An opportunity to discover what you can do.This group is run for people who would like to do a little bit of gentle exercise, meet people, and exercise the mind.Have a go on our adapted exercise bike, receive a short massage, join in a quiz, pub game.
Advice from our physiotherapy;complementary therapy and social work teams is available is this session.
Stay for 30 min or the full 2 hours.
INSPIRE Fortnightly on Thursdays
A supportive and social group run by the physiotherapy team for anyone suffering with breathlessness.It’s designed to help keep you active and to teach new coping strategies and relaxation techniques
Most research so far has focused on helping the side-effects of orthodox cancer treatments, and on relieving pain. Our Physiotherapy team use acupuncture as part of the service they offer.
