Philip Crane was only 49 when he passed away in April 2016 after a short illness, leaving behind his wife Jemma, three-year old son Charlie, his parents, sister and wider family.
Before he died, Philip spent some time in The Hospice of St Francis, which provided him with invaluable support and comfort. The Hospice continues to provide this support to his family even now.
A few short months after his death, Philip’s family had occasion to celebrate a happier event when his grandmother Ethel reached her 100th birthday.
To mark the occasion a garden party was arranged on a sunny day in August attended by four generations of the family and various friends.
Ethel was delighted to host the celebration but her one proviso was that no one should bring any presents for her but instead they would be invited to make a donation to the Hospice to express the family’s gratitude for the care received.
In total over £600 was raised for the Hospice!
Thank you so much to Ethel and all of her family and friends for their kind contribution. If anyone else would like to support us, whatever their celebration, visit stfrancis.org.uk/celebration for some inspiration
