End of Life care raises many ethical dilemmas. Case studies will be considered around assisted dying, sedation towards the end of life and withdrawing/ withholding treatment. Ethical dilemmas are a frequent feature of palliative care.
This Masterclass will provide some introductory theory that will help you to consider things in a more ethical way. This may not mean that you find a definitively right answer (since they frequently don’t exist), but will help you to have thought through any conflicting options to reach a conclusion that feels "right" under the circumstances.
Looking at case studies the participants will be encouraged to look at ethical issues such as equity in palliative care, truth telling and other ethical matters that the group identify.
