Ethics Masterclass

Acorn Suite, The Hospice of St Francis

Wednesday, 14th June 2017

09:30 - 13:00

Target audience:

Multi-professional experienced staff working in the hospital, community, hospice and care home settings

Content:

Ethical dilemmas frequently occur in palliative care. This Masterclass will provide some introductory theory that will help you to consider things in a more ethical way. This may not mean that you find a definitively right answer (since they don’t always exist), but will help you to have thought through any  conflicting options to reach a conclusion that feels “right” under the circumstances. Looking at case studies the participants will be encouraged to look at ethical issues such as equity in palliative care, truth telling, assisted dying, withdrawing and withholding treatment, and the doctrine of double effect or other ethical matters that the group identify.

 Facilitated by:

Jo Fernandes, Practice Development Nurse

Course Fee: £40

(free of charge to hospice staff members)
