AUTHOR: Robert Rodway has written a walking book in aid of the Hospice of St Francis.

Taking a big step forward, five friends set out from the Complete Outdoors in Bourne End to mark the launch of a new book to benefit the Hospice of St Francis.

Dedicated walker, Robert Rodway, who has written the book -The Hospice of St Francis Walk invited his friends to tramp the first of the six walks around Berkhamsted that make up the £4.50 volume which goes on sale this week at Waterstones in Berkhamsted, at any of the hospice charity shops and at Number Twenty in Lower Kings Road, Berkhamsted. It can also be ordered direct from the hospice for 50p extra post and packing - just call 01442 899555 for a copy All proceeds will go to the hospice.

The little party set off for the Full Moon at Hawridge (nearly 10 miles) via Bovingdon Airfield, Sandpit Green Woods, and Ashley Green.
The walk is the first of six making up a 55-mile circular route that can be walked in sections, with refreshment stops. The book also contains maps, places of interest and a list of ordinance survey maps showing all the paths covered in the book.

The other five walks are Cholesbury Common to Hughenden Manor (10 miles), Hughenden Manor to Wendover (12m), Wendover to Aldbury (8m), Aldbury to Little Gaddesden (8m) and Little Gaddesden to Bourne End (7m).

Robert's mother and father-in-law were cared for by the hospice and he is keen to give something back. He has been a volunteer gardener and is currently a volunteer driver for the day hospice.
