(Herald Express 9/11/2006)

Penny Bird of the Hospice and Clive Mosson of Aitchisons, Berkhamsted, plus more of his staff.

Commission drawn from the sale of houses in the Berkhamsted area during February and March meant that a cheque for £2,000 could be presented to the Hospice of St Francis Appeal Fund.

Estate agents Aitchisons at their Berkhamsted branch pledged to donate £100 from the commission on each house sold in the relevant period.
A total of 20 homes went under offer and the sales have now finally completed, resulting in the presentation of a cheque to Penny Bird, head of the Hospice Appeal Fund.
Aitchisons has been very supportive of the Hospice Appeal and this latest tranche of money brings the total the firm has raised for the Hospice to over £30,000.

Other fund-raising initiatives have included the Buy a Brick Appeal and the £1,000 donate-a-brick appeal.
Penny Bird said: "The help from Aitchisons allowed us to get to where we are today. "We are now looking at a situation where the hospice building is almost finished, so we are very grateful to Aitchisons for its help with the big brick buy."
The Hospice expects to move into its new premises in spring next year.

The Aitchison Raffety Group's involvement with the Hospice is ongoing and will be concluded shortly by the disposal of the present Hospice site for redevelopment.

A recent marketing campaign produced 34 offers for the land.
The financial result and nominated party will be announced as soon as contract formalities are completed.
