TASTY: Simon East and daughter Courtney are selling sausages and raising funds for the Hospice of St. Francis at their shop in Abbots Langley

Buying real butcher's bangers in Abbots Langley this week will make a difference to the Hospice of St Francis.
As part of national sausage week Simon East butchers on Abbots Langley High Street is holding special sausage tasting sessions with a percentage of all sausages sold going straight to the Hospice of St Francis.
Courtney East, who works in the shop along with her father, mother and uncle, said they all had a family connection to the hospice.

She added: "Because my grandfather was looked after by the hospice nurses, we thought it was a really good cause to support. Plus we've got the hospice shop here in Abbots Langley which we always try to support."
The tasting sessions will allow customers to try before they buy, from the range of different sausages on offer this week, during the special sessions between 10am and 12pm and 2pm and 4pm everyday until this Saturday, November 4.

Courtney added: "The most popular type of sausage we sell is the Old English, which has black pepper and sage in it. I think because people aren't very adventurous, but that's the idea of these tasters. We've just made a new one this week called the bonfire banger, which has sun dried tomatoes and chili.
"Hopefully we can encourage people to try something new and also raise some money for the hospice."
Simon East's butchers is at 47 High Street Abbots Langley.

SPLASH OUT: Sausage week at Martins Pond pub, Potten End, with landlord, Neil Cutmore, wife Melanie and son Daniel (7).

During national sausage week a Potten End pub is encouraging people to come down and enjoy a traditional British banger -or maybe something a little more exotic.

Martins Pond pub is planning to offer a Ml range of sizzling sausages throughout this week and will also welcome donations for the Hospice of St Francis from customers.
Manager Neil Cutmore said: "It is a week to promote the British sausage and make sure people know that they are a great food and where better to enjoy them than at your local pub."
Martins Pond are hoping to be able to offer people unusual delights such as honey and mustard sausages, wild boar bangers and possibly even gammon and pineapple.
Mr Cutmore said: "They will all be served with mash and a rich onion gravy, the way they should be."
The pub has recently managed to earn itself a mention in the Good Pub Guide 2007.
Mr Cutmore said: "We're in the lucky dip section where we get nominated by readers. It's the first time the pub has been mentioned.
"We only took over the pub in February and it already had a good reputation, so we've just been trying to improve on that."
