HOW'S THAT!? Phil Moody.

The sound of leather on willow will be turning into the jangle of coins for the Dig Deep campaign this summer.

The Hospice of St Francis has organised a cricket competition to help bring in more funds for the Dig Deep campaign.
Organiser Phil Moody, trust fundraiser at the hospice said: "I'm very keen on cricket and wanted to see if we could do it for a fundraising event. So far it's been a pretty good venture."
The competition has been divided into two sections, one for local villages and one for companies, with the two grand finals being staged at Northchurch Cricket Club on August 13.

Phil said: "We will have ball sponsorship for each of the matches and collections at every game. Most of the fundraising will come from the final itself, where we are going to have stalls and a barbecue."
He added: "We're targeting £8-10,000 in total, but obviously on the day that's weather dependant!"

Thirteen local villages will take on their first round opponents by May 26 and seven companies are also in preparation to battle it out for the a place in the next round by June 16.
Chairman of Northchurch Parish Council Alan Fantham conducted the draw and Northchurch Cricket Club have offered their ground for the staging of the final.
Phil said: "The new hospice will actually be in the Northchurch area so they have been very generous in allowing us to stage the final there." He added: "The competition got off to a flying start on Friday with Little Gaddesden taking on Clarendon. Little Gaddesden won the toss and posted a respectable total of 138 off their allotted 15 overs. Clarendon were then restricted to a total of 114, largely due to a fast and accurate opening spell from bowlers David Johnstone and Paul Hobley."
Little Gaddesden will now play the winners of Bourne End v Hawridge and Cholesbury in the next round.
Phil said: "The hospice thanks Little Gaddesden for not only obtaining ball sponsorship from Treelife, but also for organising a collection amongst the players after the game towards the hospice appeal."
