BARGAIN BID: Chris Burrows, at the Hospice is urging all you shopaholics to help a good cause while you enjoy some online retail therapy!
Readers, who want to take advantage of the January sales while also helping the Hospice of St Francis, can now do both thanks to an online opportunity on the hospice web-site.
Browsers can log on to www.stfrancis.org.uk and shop at their favourite stores with a percentage being given to the hospice to aid it in its capital appeal.
Chris Burrows, IT manager at the hospice explained that it was a simple way for people to do their bit.
He said: "It's a very easy way to raise money for the hospice. One way is logging on to buy.at/stfrancis and the other is clicking on to www.ushopugive.com," he explained.
"You shop through them and they will donate a percentage of any sales to us depending on what shop you go to. You have to go via our website but you can save yourself a few pounds in the sale and raise some money for the hospice," he added.
The hospice website also allows people to sell products on eBay with a donation being made to the hospice for every transaction.
Chris explained: "You can get rid of unwanted gifts and also help out St Francis."
To access the shopping sites click on 'get involved' and then 'retail and trading' followed by 'online' and follow the links.
And anyone wanting to unwind after all that online shopping is encouraged to take the high road over to St Albans on February 4 for a Scottish Evening.
The event, at Sopworth House Hotel, will include traditional dancing, (pictured above), the piping of the haggis, a toast to the lassies and a prize draw with the chance to win a break at the Gleneagles resort in Scotland.
Organiser Colin Gage said: "We hope the Scottish Evening will be an excellent opportunity for the business and general community to help raise funds for the new hospice while at the same time having an enjoyable evening out."
