Give your phones to a good cause
(Herald Express 18/1/2007)

CALLING YOU: Roger Sharp, seated centre, with hospice staff and volunteers.

IF you received a new mobile phone for Christmas and want to get rid of your old phone then look no further than the Hospice of St Francis.

The hospice is collecting old mobiles which it will send off to be recycled in exchange for funds.
Roger Sharp, Community Appeals Manager at the hospice said it was a good way to help a good cause and protect the environment.
He said: "We collect the phones in boxes and they are collected and we can get up to £5 per phone so the more boxes we can fill over the year the better. I'm sure a lot of people received new phones for Christmas and don't know what to do with the old ones.
"If they take it into a hospice shop or bring it up to us here at the hospice itself then they will be helping us and it stops it from ending up on a landfill site which can be really bad for the environment. So it's a green way to help the hospice."
