FIREWALKING: Carol Palmer, PA to chief executive of St Francis Hospice chief executive Roz Taylor, goes for the burn to cheers from supporters!

A firewalking stunt in aid of the Hospice of St Francis and the Peace Hospice in Watford has helped bring in around £5,000 for each.

Around 40 local people took part in the challenge of walking over 1200°F coals in the ultimate mind over matter challenge!
Penny Bird, of the hospice, said the event at the Watermill Hotel in Bourne End, pictured
above, had been a great success.
She said: "It went very well and we had a really good turnout with about 200 spectators.
"When I looked at the fire beforehand it was absolutely ter¬rifying because it was about three feet high when they first lit it. But it was all 100 per cent safe and everyone enjoyed it."

As well as volunteers and staff at the hospice, footballing stars from Watford FC also took part in the fire walk earlier in the day.
