GAME ON! Hospice nurse and fun day organiser Michelle Clarke

Families from miles around are getting ready to dust off their racquets, pull on their tracksuits and lace up their trainers this weekend for a special sports day in aid of the Hospice of St Francis.

The high-energy event in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday, September 3 offers adults and youngsters a chance to try out all sorts of sports – from badminton to 'human table football'.
Netball and football tournaments involving local teams will be running throughout the day and young 'Rooney’s' can learn some new tricks thanks to professional coaches from Game On!

For the less athletic, there will be a whole load of entertainment and refreshments, with a barbecue, dance display and rocking rhythms from the Blues Blah Brothers.
The event is open to everyone and all proceeds go to the Hospice of St Francis’ 'Dig Deep' appeal.

Event organiser and hospice nurse, Michelle Clarke, said: "The hospice involves the whole community and it's great to bring everyone together for a fun day out!" She added that the event will go ahead 'whatever the weather'.

The sports and fun day in aid of the hospice starts at 10am, with different sports on offer at Blackbirds Moor, Dacorum Sports Centre and Hemel Hempstead School.

Entry is free but all guests are asked to bring plenty of change to pay for fun, games and refreshments.

For details call the Hospice of St Francis on 01442 869550.

Receive 'butler' service at hospice cricket match

Further fundraising fun is on offer on Sunday, September 10, when some of the area's best batsmen and bowlers battle it out at the Hospice of St Francis cricket finals and fun day.

Rescheduled after rain in August, the event at Northchurch Cricket Club will feature some fine wicket action as well as family entertainment including face painters and stalls.

There will also be a bar with 'butler service', tea and coffee, and a barbecue.
Gates open at 11.30am, entry and parking is free, and all proceeds go to the Hospice of St Francis.
