In the pink for walk
Hospice invite to 'laydeez'
(Herald Express 16/4/2007)

Laydeez
Dacorum Mayor, Catherine Appleby, two hospice nurses and walkers dressed in pink line up with organisers (in yellow).

Martin the Zebra helped persuade women to sign up to the Hospice of St Francis' midnight charity event, Walk with the Stars last week.
Along with the Mayor of Dacorum, Catherine Appleby, avid hospice supporter Martin, launched the campaign to get 500 women to participate in the 12 mile walk in July.
Soft toy, Stripey Martin was donated to the charity and has travelled to Gambia, had coffee mornings with the mayor and has many other events in the pipeline in his bid to support the Hospice.
The aim of the walk is to get women to dress in pink, put their lipstick and trainers on and take part to help raise a chunk of the £85,000 needed for a new bed at the hospice.
Event organiser, Fran Martin, said: "The walk is for anyone of any shape, size or age. We just want as many ' people involved as possible."
Walkers will start at Hemel Hempstead Sportspace and make their way down to Berkhamsted Sports Centre and then walk all the way back to where they started.
The sea of pink ladies will be stewarded by 100 men who will be waiting on the finishing Mae with bacon sandwiches.
To get involved as a steward or walker call 01442 869555 or visit the website www.stfrancis.org.uk/WWTS/
