A woman battling with anorexia has made the unusual plea: 'Help me and the hospice that cared for my father put on pounds'.
Lizzie Grimaldi who weighs just 5st lllb is asking people to sponsor her for every mouthful she eats as she struggles back to health.
Suffering from the illness for 20 years, Lizzie decided to support the Hospice of St Francis after it helped her through the death of her father, Martin Josey, who died of a brain tumour.
She says her condition has 'spiralled out of control' and this is a last resort before she will be forced into hospital.
Lizzie has already captured the public mood raising a staggering £19,000 in pledges in just a week.
The hospice said it was touched by her gesture.
Director of the charity Dr Ros Taylor said: "Lizzie's battle with anorexia has obviously been a long, personal and difficult journey. I am really touched that through her attempt at recovery she is also fundraising for the Hospice of St Francis in her father's memory. We wish her every success with her challenge."
The 36-year-old who is 5ft 6in, hopes to put on a stone and a half in her year-long campaign.
Lizzie, who used to live in Chesham before she moved to Banbury, said: "I need another incentive and so I will be raising money for charity. I believe this way I will have the motivation needed, to complete small tasks.
"These things combined will, I hope, encourage me to complete the challenge on a day-to-day basis.
"Although it was a tragic time when my father died, the hospice was wonderful, helping make him comfortable and helping us get through it," she said.
All sponsorship will be on a lbs-for-£s basis for a period of one year and her target is to raise £25,000.
