  Day Hospice

Our Day Hospice provides a warm and caring environment where you can meet people who are familiar with the changes and challenges you may face when ill. It also enables your carers to take a break from their normal routine.

The Day Hospice is open for two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday), for a maximum of eight patients each day, and is staffed by a Day Hospice Organiser, a Registered Nurse and a team of volunteers.

A referral for admission to Day Hospice is made via a patient’s own General Practitioner, Specialist Nurse or the Inpatient Unit staff where appropriate.

Our Day Hospice offers:

  • Nursing care and assessment
  • Symptom control
  • Transport to and from Day Hospice is provided by volunteer drivers
  • Advice from other members of the Hospice team by arrangement, e.g. Doctor, Chaplain, Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Family support Service
  • Companionship
  • Complementary Therapies
  • Emotional, spiritual and practical support
  • A cooked lunch and refreshments
  • A variety of crafts and activities, including trips out
  • Entertainment
