Belle of the ball
Grandmother-of-six Beryl Bush felt like the belle of the ball on a recent Mediterranean cruise when she wore this satin and chiffon dress, purchased at her local Abbots Langley Hospice of St Francis shop for just £15.
“I was so lucky,” says Beryl, 72, who is a regular customer at the shop. “The staff there know I go on a lot of cruises and suggested I try it on. Having white hair, I wouldn’t normally have given such a pale colour a second glance, but it fitted, it’s light – perfect for a fly cruise – and it made me feel fabulous! So many people on board remarked how beautiful it was!”
The shop was Beryl’s first port of call when she returned from the 14-
day cruise aboard Princess Cruises’ Emerald Princess – to say thank you to staff for suggesting she try it on.
“I’m so grateful to them – it’s a
wonderful addition to my wardrobe, but
one thing I’d really like to know is who
donated it,” says the former school PA, from De Havilland Way, Abbots Langley. “I’d just love to know its back story.” If you’re the mystery donor, give us a call on 01442 869555.

eBay star items
A ‘2013 Hyundai i10 5-door Hatchback’ was generously donated by the wife of a former patient and sold on eBay for a fabulous £4,500!
Star ‘collectable’ item must be these 50 vintage railway prints, which sold in lots for £965.
Returned to Glory expands
Returned to Glory is now bigger, better and brighter!
A recent expansion has given our furniture showroom nearly 1,000 sq ft of extra selling space, incorporating a dedicated upcycling area to host its popular workshops and more space to transform pre-loved furniture into unique, desirable pieces.
The extra space means there will also be more room to display items like curtains, and more choice for customers looking for a bargain or a piece of furniture to upcycle.
Returned to Glory’s collaborative relationship with designers like Sanderson and Colefax & Fowler means that some beautiful designer fabrics can be used for re-upholstery projects, cushions, lampshades, tablecloths and
bedcovers – making Returned to Glory a unique and inspiring place to both work and shop.
