  Volunteering

The Hospice of St. Francis aims to improve the quality of life for patients with a  life-threatening illness and to support family and friends.

At the present time over 500 volunteers play an essential role in maintaining and supporting this service (alongside the paid clinical and administrative staff).

Some volunteers are involved directly in patient care while others help behind the scenes in various ways.

We hope that all volunteers find the Hospice environment is supportive to them as well as to patients. There is usually someone available to share any concerns. Our volunteers  come from all walks of life and can be any age over 16 except in the shops where the age range is between 14 and 75 years old.
In spite of the challenging nature of our work, many volunteers look forward to coming, and  tell us that they are very happy helping at the Hospice.
