Total care when time is precious

Volunteer for us

Volunteers are at the heart of the caring work we do at the Hospice of St Francis. More than 900 volunteers offer their time, energy, commitment, skills and dedication to help with the running of the Hospice at all levels.

People volunteer here for many reasons. Some have personal experience of the Hospice or bereavement. Some are retired, and looking for something to add structure to their day. Some want to ‘put something back’ into their local community. Some are looking to rebuild their confidence and skills, following a break from work. Some want to offer existing skills; some want to learn new skills.

All of them make a valuable contribution.  Without them, the Hospice would not be able to offer its high quality care to patients, families, carers, friends, and more.

I took early retirement from work. I initially joined the fundraising committee, progressed to my choice of gardening and then into the finance office as well! The voluntary work eased my path into retirement as I had no time for hobbies when working.

The Hospice cared so wonderfully for my Mother. Volunteering lets me give something back.
