Total care when time is precious

Inpatient Unit

The Hospice of St Francis is a rare and wonderful place, and so are the people who make it what it isPatient, June 2007

Our Inpatient Unit has been specially designed to promote comfort, safety, dignity and privacy.

We have tried to combine the feeling of a modern healthcare setting with the comfort of home – many tell us we have achieved this!

My sister so enjoyed the view from her window, and the meals, and being able to go out into the grounds when she was well enough.Sister of patient, August 2007

Bedroom

We have ten single bedrooms and two double bedrooms – 14 beds in total. The single bedrooms all have their own en-suite facilities and have double doors opening onto our beautiful gardens. The double bedrooms could be shared by two patients if appropriate, but up to now we have used these bigger rooms for patients with large families where many people want to stay close to the patient.  These rooms also have doors opening onto the gardens.

At present 11 of our 14 beds are in use – when funding allows we will open more beds.

The Hospice is a beautiful place, sympathetically constructed for all the inpatients and relatives’ needs. Our mother expressed her delight at being able to lie in her bed, feeling the breeze from the open patio doors, something she could not have experienced at home.Daughter of patient, June 2008
