Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the art media as its primary code of communication.
Patients in the Hospice may find themselves overwhelmed by their emotions, which are either difficult to face themselves, or by others. Art therapy offers an opportunity to explore these painful thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment. It involves using a wide variety of art materials, for example paints, pastels, charcoal and clay, in order to create visual representations of thoughts and feelings.
Art Therapy is used in a one-to-one format or in a group setting.
