Reflexology practitioners use a specific massage technique on reflex points on the hands and feet, based on the premise that these reflex points have a corresponding body part.
Evidence suggests that reflexology is helpful in the following ways:
- promoting relaxation
- alleviating anxiety
- reducing depression
- reducing stress and tension
- reducing psychological distress
A course of four reflexology and stress management sessions is available for carers of Hospice patients. These take place on an outpatient appointment basis in our Complementary Therapy treatment room.
Referrals can be made via a Specialist Nurse or through the Supportive Care, Day Hospice, or Medical Teams.
