Total care when time is precious

Carers group

We recognise that caring for a relative or friend can be challenging and stressful as well as rewarding.  We feel it is important to offer you the opportunity to meet with other carers and share your experiences. This can help you in coping as a carer and perhaps learn about some of the practical ways of supporting someone.

We run a monthly group for carers that are known to the Hospice.  The group begins with a topical presentation followed by lunch.

Topics presented at the group include:

  • ‘The Meaning of Food’ (Hospice Chef)
  • ‘Myths and Medicine’ (Dr Ros Taylor)
  • ‘What does it mean to be a Carer?’ (Dr Nicole Jackman)
  • ‘What do you need to know about Welfare and Benefits?’ (Dacorum Adult Care Services)
  • ‘Relaxation Techniques’ and ‘Psychological Coping Skills’ (Supportive Care Team)

If you would like to discuss your experiences as a carer, obtain more information on how the Hospice may help you, or express interest in attending our Carers Group meetings, please either make contact with your Home Care Specialist Nurse, ring our Supportive Care Team on 01442 869550 or click Contact Us and complete the online form, selecting 'Supportive Care' to receive your message.
