There are 13 Trustees of The Hospice of St Francis. They are carefully chosen to provide a mix of skills. They decide on the strategic direction of the Hospice, working with the management team. They are all volunteers.
There are eight managers in the Senior Management Team. They work with the Trustees to formulate policy decisions and with the staff and volunteers to implement the strategy approved by the Trustees.
The Hospice employs 165 people most of whom have clinical jobs- doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, counsellors and educators. It also employs catering and domestic staff, as well as fundraising, retail and administration staff. All the members of staff are specialists in one way or another and all contribute to the smooth running of the Hospice.
The Hospice is supported by more than 900 volunteers who work with patients and their families, in the shops, as cashiers and generally in all departments alongside the employed staff.
