Total care when time is precious

About Us

Our mission That excellent palliative care be available to all those with terminal illness in our catchment area when they need it and wherever they are.

We work every day to make this mission a reality.

We provide care for patients with serious or terminal illness. Many of our patients have cancer but we also look after patients with heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease and neurological disease, as well as cancer.

We offer our care at home, in hospital, and in our Inpatient Unit, where we have 11 beds available. We provide Day Hospice care on two days of the week and regular Outpatient appointments. Our Supportive Care team helps families through the experience of the illness or death of a loved family member.

The Hospice of St Francis was founded in 1979, and employed its first nurse in 1980. Now the Hospice employs 65 nurses, six doctors and four therapists, as well as catering, fundraising and administration staff. We work with patients suffering terminal and life-limiting illnesses and their families, carers and loved ones.
